In case you forgot, Cher began her "Farewell Tour" (a.k.a. the "Never Can Say Goodbye Tour") in 2002. It lasted 3 years. Then, in 2008, she signed on for another 3-year, 200-show stint at the Colosseum in Las Vegas.
Favre "retired" at the end of the 2007 season, tried to come back as a Packer last year (except that they didn't want him to), was traded to the Jets for the 2008 season, "retired" at the end of last season, and now is apparently in talks with the Vikings for a 2009 comeback. And he'll probably get picked up for these reasons.
